A 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercar was sold for a whopping $3.7 million last Saturday at Dallas during Leake's auction. This marks the auction company's highest-priced vehicle sold since it was founded in 1972.

"We had an exciting day in Dallas Market Hall," said Richard Sevenoaks, Leake President. "In the 45-year history of our company, this is the most expensive car we have ever sold. We are thrilled with the sale."

He added that the 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercar has been the most talked about vehicle available for auction. The hybrid super has only been driven for less than 600 miles and is in mint condition.

There were only 499 LaFerrari's strictly built by Ferrari, with an additional one added just last year: the 500th Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercar. Production of this hybrid supercar ended in 2015, but the additional vehicle was built to raise money for an auction for the victim of the earthquake in central Italy.

According to Ferrari, that specific car, the 500th Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercar, was sold for a whopping $7 million. The company even claims that this is the highest amount paid for a 21st-century car sold at an auction. In fact, this is approximate $1.3 million more for a brand new LaFerrari.

Although the Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercar isn't one of the fastest production cars to hit 0 to 60mph in the market, it's less than 3-second 0 to 60 mph still sounds pretty impressive, topping at around 214 mph. The hybrid supercar's body was built out of the latest space-air materials and designed by Pininfarina.

Since this is a gas-electric hybrid, under the hood is a powertrain that consists of a 788-horsepower 6.3-liter V12 engine and an F1-derived HY-KERS hybrid system. Combined, this produces an exciting 949 horsepower and 663 lb-ft of torque.

The 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari hybrid supercar's price sold during Leake's auction reportedly includes the buyer's fees. And it seems that there is no other vehicle to top the hybrid supercar's price at Leake's auction.
